Paying it Forward

Paying it forward...

With the onset of the holiday GIVING season, I've decided to join in the "Pay IT Forward" ring. Here's how it works:

“I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment here on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.”
Sew, if U have not already joined in a PIF venture, please feel welcomed to do so. I KNOW I will NOT have my end ready for mailing until after 2008 has begun, but this will keep me committed and I'll keep you in mind for the holidays as I stitch my way through the end of 2007.

Fabric Boxes.

These are a couple of fabric boxes I made to sell in the shop. Both have an oriental theme going with the fabric as well as the embellishments.
I added some thread lace on the lids, This is done on water soluable stabilizer using a hoop with the feed dogs down on the machine. Then you just sew in circles until you reach the desired size.
Added to that as I sewed is bits of metallic threads and leather fragments. Some beads bring a nice brightness to the piece, and some tassels are a nice touch I think.
One is black and the other is brown/gold. I show the inside of the lids where I appliqued a fussy cut piece from the fabric.

Wool Rovings

These were the rovings I order awhile ago... aren't they gorgeous colors??!! I can hardly wait to do some ATC's with them.. So far I only got the "Sock Monkey" finished.

Cute Accents for Dolls to come

These were just too cute to resist! They are Xmas tree Decorations, but I have other plans. Can't wait to do a doll to fit each thing.Won't that be cute!

My Creative Space.

Well You asked for it!!!! I have so much stuff I can't make it any more tidy!!! When I try I can't find anything~!!
When I'm working I can look outside through the patio doors and see the garden and the birdies.... This time of year is pretty drab as far as the flowers go but the cardinals, chicka-dees and blue-jays leep me entertained. In the summer we get the gold finches and if we are lucky maybe some hummingbirds....
I neglected to tell you I keep my fabric in one of the bedrooms which has a walk-in closet. The main spcae was suppose to be a family room. The plan was for me to have half the space and the bedroom for my studio... the other half was for my DH pool table, dart board, and hammond organ..... well as you can see 6 year later, he lost the deal.... The pool table makes a wonderful working place for me to cut things out etc!! Playing pool is not an option anymore!!!!PS he doesn't care....whew! :-)

Needle Felted Sock Monkey

Well here he is....SOCK MONKEY!!!!!!!!
When I visited Bettina Makel's blog (she does fabulous needle felting) I was so inspired with her tribute to the movie "Harvey" and her version of the Rabbit and sock monkey, I told her I just had to try it..
I took my rovings and needles to my quilt retreat and made this one. Everyone just Loved him and they kept snitching him throughout the week-end and had him sitting amongst their things!! VBG

Maggie's Snowman Quilt

I LOVE to hand quilt. It does take a lot of time but when you are doing something you love to do then it is time well spent. The best part is while you are enjoying yourself with the needle, thoughts of the next project are running through your head!!

I'm Home

Goodmorning everyone.....
Well I was away at a retreat for the week-end.
I belong to http://www.oxfordquiltersguild.com/
We have 2 retreats a year where up to 45 quilters get to-gether and have a great time. I took some time out to take some pictures. Would have taken more but my battery died in the camera..... Poor planning on my part! I will remember to take extra batteries next time.
I took my "Snowman" quilt to work on. It is queen size hand appliqued and now I am hand quilting it. I have it about 40% done at this point. I always wanted a Xmas/winter quilt and here it is.
Anyway Had a fabulous 3 days with my friends and now to catch up at home!!
